Lego grace

The trade I was dealing in today was frustrated sighs, exasperation, fatigue.  Until Ben came upstairs to show his daddy a building he’d made of Legos.

“It’s the Arch, Daddy!  … The windows are up here … Here’s where the elevators go up.”

He was so proud.  The two of them sat there together, discussing architectural details and engineering strategies, and suddenly there were tears in my eyes.

We’re paying in, and paying in, and paying in, and the final payout is soooo far away.  But every once in a while, there’s an unexpected, very, very welcome dividend.
